Boards, glorious boards! (final 4)

Taking the cure

Blue anchor wallpaper board

Acceptable in the 80’s

Oh Tuesday, why are you always so near the start of the week. Maybe you should swap places with Friday every once in a while. Anyway, I digress. We finally got to see these boards in situ at the Isle of Wight festival last weekend when we were djing for Pootopia. They provide toilets at festivals and they have hundreds of compostable toilets and are beautifying them with artwork on boards which fit into the toilet doors. Which is where we came in. We managed to get 32 finished over a weekend, which is eight shy of our self imposed target of forty but pretty good all the same. It was good to finally see some of our boards in situ although i’m pretty sure we failed to get any pictures – which is a bit rubbish but not entirely surprising.

Here’s the final selection of four boards. I’m not entirely sure if we’ve saved the best til last but they are what they are….

Cheers

Boards, glorious boards! (part 7)

Belle epoque

Almost Original Grace

Have a peek…

Well, that weekend flew by. We were djing at the Isle of Wight festival for Pootopia and now it’s back down to earth with a bump. Pootopia provide toilets at festivals and they have hundreds of compostable toilets and are beautifying them with artwork on boards which fit into the toilet doors.

So here’s the seventh load of doors and with only one more day of boards to go I’ll be glad to move onto something new…

Boards, glorious boards (part 4)

Team id-iom

We’re at part 4 now and if you haven’t been following then where exactly have you been? Anyway, a brief recap, we went down to Somerset to paint some boards for Pootopia who provide toilets at festivals.  They have hundreds of compostable toilets and are beautifying them with some artwork on boards which fit into the toilet doors. Which is where we came in. We set ourselves a somewhat ambitious target of completing 40 boards over the weekend. Despite working just about as hard as we could we only managed a final tally of 32 completed boards (with 7 left just as backgrounds and one MIA). Not too shabby if i say so myself. The hard part was trying to make it so they didn’t all look too similar.

And here is our fourth set of boards and we’re just about at the halfway mark. I didn’t realise quite how busy we were that weekend…

Boards, glorious boards (part 3)

Anyone can hold the helm when the sea is calm

I am Siamese if you please

The terror

So this is our third set of boards and we aren’t even half way through them yet! As previously mentioned we headed to Somerset to paint as many boards as we could handle in a weekend for the nice folks at Pootopia.

It was pretty busy weekend and we didn’t finish till 9pm on Sunday but less about my troubles here’s the third load of finished boards…

Meanwhile in Brixton…

A bird in the hand

Dead good dibo

Pink buccaneer wallpaper

With festival season almost upon us we were invited down to Somerset to paint as many boards as we could handle in a weekend for the nice folks at Pootopia. They have hundreds of compostable toilets and are beautifying them with some artwork on boards which fit into the toilet doors. Which is where we come in. After jumping in the id-iomobile and heading West into the setting sun we arrived late so got to work early Saturday morning and set ourselves a somewhat ambitious target of completing 40 boards over the weekend. Despite working just about as hard as we could we only managed a final tally of 32 completed boards (with 7 left just as backgrounds and one MIA). Not too shabby if i say so myself. The hard part was trying to make it so they didn’t all look too similar.

It was somewhat manic and we didn’t finish till 9pm on Sunday but here’s the second load of finished boards…

Masthead

mac commission small

After our last release of pics from our Big Cartel page someone got in touch and asked if the little image we used at the top of the page was available as a picture. Never one to turn a fun commission down we agreed to make it reality and here we have the character known only as ‘masthead’. His past is unknown and his future is unwritten. Presently though he’s having a quite pint whilst waiting for a mysterious friend to turn up. That’s all I can say for now…

When he gets back he’s heralding our month on new releases on our Big Cartel page. There’s a whole host of brand new stuff that’s all at the bargain price of £35 (plus postage). Head on down and check it out…

Unfortunately Masthead is not available from id-iom big cartel as this was a commission.

The LA Beast

Ah the power of the internet! Last week I was having a bit of a Youtube session when I came across a competitive eater by the name of the LA Beast who will eat just about anything. We first watched his cactus challenge video where, you guessed it, he eats a cactus. Whole. We then moved onto the ghost chilli challenge which brought tears to my eyes – as well as his. After perusing a few more videos we decided to check him out online. The banner on his Facebook page was looking a little pixelated so the muse demanded I create a new one for him as thanks for the amusement he provided.

Once I had an idea for the design it was all pretty straightforward except for the fact that I couldn’t find any decent resolution shots of his face in profile (which was required for my design). So there you have it. All that was left after that was to send it off to him and see if he’d get back. He did and it turns out he thought it was ‘awesome’. Everybody’s happy…

One more drink…

We’ve done quite a range of work down at the Electric Social in Brixton over the past couple of years and with the folks behind it getting themselves a new venue in Southend they came back to us for some more id-iom brand contemporary interior decoration. The East Coast Social is to have a similar look and feel to the Electric Social. They wanted that to include some spray painted work on the interior and we were more than happy to oblige. So, with the first nice day of Spring in the air we packed up the id-iomobile and headed for the coast. Knowing it was to be something of a long day we started early so we’d make sure to be able to finish as their grand opening is this weekend…

With the somewhat discordant accompaniment of a sound engineer running their speakers through a sound test and some workman hammering away we set to work. The main issue was having to work around the light fitting that was already up on the wall but, thankfully, we’d already thought this through in the design stage and so started there with the dark bulb logo stencil and worked the rest of the background from there. A couple of applications of the main stencil and a bit of colouring in later and here you have it. The somewhat sobering thought of needing another drink to be able to deal with her new fella…
