The nearer the dawn diorama

There must be a word for when an idea just appears in your head fully formed and ready to go. I don't know what that word is but it would apply to the creation of 'The nearer the dawn, the darker the night'.

I've never thought of creating a diorama before but the idea appeared in my head complete with text that it turns out I'd unconsciously borrowed from American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (who is the first and only non-British writer with a commemorative bust in Poet's Corner of Westminster Abbey).

After that it was just a case of putting a suitably urban design together, getting my materials sorted and getting on the laser cutter. The final piece consists of seventeen layers all spray painted in deepening tones of grey then stuck together. I've already got some potential improvements in mind for a v.2 if my brain doesn't get diverted by some other shiny idea. Drop us a line if you'd like this little objet d'art to come and live with you...
